Every school talks about well-being. The real question is: how do you know what’s really happening beneath the surface?

This Look Inside preview draws on anonymised survey data and student reflections from Zürich Hills Academy – a fictional international school created to illustrate real-world findings. It goes beyond measurement to reveal what students are actually saying about school life: what supports them, what pressures they face, and how they feel day to day.

Rather than relying on assumptions, these insights are rooted in evidence and shaped by global best practice. The result is a fuller picture of student well-being – emotional, social, and cognitive.

Imagine guiding a student using only exam results. You’d miss the context: the friendships, the fatigue, the sense of belonging or isolation that sit behind the numbers. That’s the challenge many schools face today.

The OTII Inside: State of Well-Being series, with this edition focused on students, gives schools and parents the chance to step closer to the truth – to hear student voices and see what’s really happening in their daily lives.
